Pacific Institute participants will live for two weeks on the University of the Pacific's Stockton Campus, consistently voted one of the most beautiful college campuses in the West. Students will live in the same residence halls where our university students reside during the academic year.
Housing
All students will stay in Pacific's traditional housing facilities. Central to campus, these communities put students within short walking distance of dining facilities, the Janet Leigh Theatre, and the library. Institute students will have the opportunity to interact with current Pacific students who will be in the halls to assist and support them throughout the 2 weeks while on campus. Spaces in the residential halls are available for group and one on one study as well as social activities.
Food and Dining
All students will be provided meals during their summer program. Whether students are in the mood for a quick bite, a filling meal, or a simple coffee run, Pacific has something to satisfy everyone. Every meal is made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients by our food provider, Bon Appetit.
Co-curricular activities
The Pacific Institute also will feature co-curricular activities each night. Some of the activities will include movies under the stars as well as films at the Janet Leigh Theatre, bocci and chess tournaments, pickup basketball, volleyball and soccer games, arts and crafts, karaoke and access to the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center and the Douglass M. Eberhardt Aquatic Center.
Don and Karen DeRosa University Center
The DeRosa University Center serves as the centerpiece of our 175-acre campus. Institute participants will enjoy a wide variety of meals in the DeRosa Center’s Marketplace, prepared by Bon Appetit, known for the local, sustainable food choices. Pacific was recently named in the top 10 worldwide of college campuses for food sustainability.
Don and Karen DeRosa University Center
The DeRosa Center also serves as our student union and activity center. Outside on the DeRosa Lawn, students can gather for a game of bocce or chess, picnic on the lawns, explore the many gardens and green spaces throughout campus or relax in hammocks and around the firepit.
The Lair
On the second floor of the DeRosa University Center, the Lair is one of the most popular hangout spots on campus. It provides students with a lounge area to perform, watch events, play pool and dine at the grill.
William Knox Holt Memorial Library
Institute students will have access to our newly reimagined library. With fun and functional study spaces and a full-service Starbucks, the William Knox Holt Memorial Library and Learning Center provides several amenities and academic resources. Students can focus on solo study or hold group meetings in a variety of comfortable lounging areas and study rooms.
The Cube
The library is also home to The Cube, Pacific’s technology-rich makerspace. The Cube provides a wide variety of technology services such as 3D printing, video recording studios, drones, virtual reality gaming, sewing, electronics and more. Stop by and get help with projects or learn a new skill.
Baun Fitness Center
Next to the DeRosa University Center, students will have access to the Baun Fitness Center, which is the flagship facility for Pacific Recreation's innovative programs and services. The 18,000 ft facility offers modern equipment and serves as the workout headquarters for the Pacific campus community, including state-of-the-art cardio equipment, weightlifting and even a 36' indoor rock tower.
Professional and college-student staff will supervise the residence hall experience and cocurricular activities. Campus security is provided by the university’s own police department (Stanford University and Pacific are the only two private universities in California with their own police departments).
