Computer science majors are part of a constantly evolving field that has virtually unlimited growth. From programming technology for major companies to creating video games that are played by millions, computer scientists build and maintain complex technological systems used throughout society. 

Pacific’s computer science program allows students to customize their learning journey by choosing from a wide range of electives. Students can delve into areas such as software development, AI and machine learning, graphics and game design, networking and security, and many more. The diverse range of elective courses prepares students to be successful and adaptable as new technologies emerge. 

The computer science program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Computer Science Programs.

Starting salaries for Pacific computer science graduates average over $14,000 higher than the national average. Computer scientists are also some of the best-paid professionals in the workforce today, with starting salaries between $50,000 and $70,000.

Accelerated MSCS option

Earn while you learn

Students in the computer science program have the opportunity to complete a two academic term, paid CO-OP working in a related industry and earn an average of $3,700 a month. The professional experience is one way Pacific gives students a competitive edge in the computing job market.

Pacific Noyce Scholars Program

The PacNoyce Scholars Program provides scholarships and other support for STEM majors at Pacific who become teachers in high-needs school districts, such as Stockton.

You could be eligible for the Robert Noyce Teachers Scholarship worth up to $13,750 a year, for juniors and seniors or $20,000 for the final MA/teaching credential year.

Computer Science Program Educational Objectives

Through their careers in computing or a related profession, Pacific graduates are expected to demonstrate the following within a few years of earning their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science:

  • Graduates will employ design skills and technical knowledge that contributes to building or utilizing computing systems in a variety of professional careers.
  • Graduates will work effectively in team environments, utilize communication skills, and grow and adapt to a world of evolving technology.

Computer Science Program Student Outcomes

Students who complete the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science will have acquired the ability to:

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program's discipline.
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
