Real-world education for a global industry

Pacific’s finance degree will equip you with essential knowledge and tools to enter this global industry. You’ll learn about financial planning, investment banking, international finance and financial management. You’ll also get hands-on experience with industry-standard tools like Wharton Research Data Services and Bloomberg, using them to analyze a company’s financial strategy as well as a stock’s fundamental value.

You will also have an opportunity to attend the Global Asset Management Education Forum, more commonly known as the GAME Forum. The student-run conference will give you opportunities to interact with industry leaders and learn best practices in investment management.

No matter what area of finance you’re interested in, Pacific’s finance degree program will provide you with a comprehensive toolkit based on solid theoretical and analytical training.

Growing demand

Just one in three adults worldwide are financially literate, according to the most recent research. At the same time, our lives depend on an increasingly complex set of financial systems, meaning there’s huge global demand for financial knowledge. In the United States alone, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 15% increase in employment for financial jobs like advisers, analysts and managers over the next decade.

Hands-on learning

Pacific offers real-world learning opportunities to develop your professional skills and networks, serving as a bridge into your career. You can help manage the Eberhardt Student Investment Fund, an investment portfolio approaching $4 million. This is not a virtual fund: It uses real money for real investments. You will research, evaluate, write reports and make choices about investing the fund’s money.

You will also undertake a required internship and may study abroad. You can volunteer for events, visit companies and network with alumni as you earn your finance degree.

Careers

With the help of the Eberhardt Career Management Center, you will connect with a closely maintained alumni network of financial professionals. This quality networking, combined with campus job events, have helped Pacific graduates enter positions in well-known corporations and financial institutions, including Morgan Stanley, Bloomberg, Clorox, Deloitte Consulting, Northwestern Mutual, Five Star Bank and others.

"In my four years at UOP I earned both a BS in Applied Economics and BS in Finance. During this time, I had the privilege of serving as an executive for our Student Investment Fund. Managing a near $4 million dollar investment fund provided me with both the technical skills and confidence needed to start my career as a Financial Analyst at a Fortune 500 company (Clorox)."
