Curriculum

The program will introduce you to principles of health and exercise science through practical, hands-on experiences with fitness testing and personalized training. You’ll have the opportunity to conduct fitness assessments, interpret your results and apply them to a customized exercise program using industry-standard equipment.

Planned topics and activities include:

  • The relationship between physical activity, fitness and your health and performance
  • Assess your cardio-respiratory fitness and design a cardio-respiratory exercise program
  • Assess your muscular fitness and design a resistance training program
  • Assess your flexibility and design a flexibility program
  • Assess your body composition and interpret the results
  • Assess your posture and interpret the results

Sharon West, PhD, ATC holds a robust academic background in exercise science, with a bachelor’s degree in Human Performance and Athletic Training, a master’s degree in Sport Sciences and a doctorate in Exercise Physiology. With expertise in exercise physiology, functional training and rehabilitation and exercise prescriptions, she is deeply invested in advancing knowledge and methods that help people move and perform better.
