Session 1

Session 2

Computer Drawing and Drafting

Remember that a picture is worth a thousand words!

Communicating graphically is crucial in many professions, and it is especially critical in engineering and architecture. This opportunity will provide you with the skills you need to communicate your ideas in graphics. The program is led by experienced engineering faculty and staff with years of experience in this field.

Students in this program will work in the computer lab using sophisticated computer graphing programs (including AutoCAD) that are used in all areas of engineering and architecture. Whether you are interested in engineering or architecture in general, you will have a great opportunity to develop the necessary skills to take college level classes in engineering design and architecture. You will also be able to create fun projects that you yourself imagine, or the instructors will assign you useful and creative projects such as a wooden lap table.

Curriculum

This curriculum will introduce you to the fundamentals of graphical communication. By the end of the session, you will be able to:

1) Demonstrate the fundamental skills needed to perform computer aided design (CAD) and drafting

2) Draft technical and engineering drawings that convey innovative ideas using AutoCAD software

3) Utilize the MakerSpace to produce a lap table and other projects

Planned Topics

In the mornings, you will learn the fundamentals of computer aided drafting.

In the afternoons, you will have the opportunity to implement the skills you developed in the morning on a project of your choice or on a project your instructors provide for you.

After completing the program, you will have the skills needed to present your innovative ideas graphically, which you can use in your future studies.
