Beach Volleyball

Spend your summer on the sand volleyball courts

Learn beach volleyball in an engaging and welcoming atmosphere where high school athletes of all levels can experience the sport in an outdoor setting. Students enhance their game while enjoying the unique challenges and strategies that come with beach volleyball, building confidence and a love for the sport.

At this summer beach volleyball program, students train alongside and learn from Division I coaches and players on our state-of-the-art sand courts. They gain valuable insight into the skills, techniques, and tactics specific to beach volleyball while enjoying an authentic collegiate sports experience. Whether refining their advanced gameplay or stepping onto the sand for the first time, this is the chance to elevate volleyball skills and embrace the spirit of Pacific beach volleyball.

Curriculum

Our dynamic drills are designed to create an engaging and competitive environment where athletes feel encouraged to fail fast, learn and improve even faster! Each sand court is led by experienced instructors dedicated to fostering skill development and confidence.
While the program emphasizes the techniques needed to succeed in beach volleyball, the focus remains on teamwork, adaptability and, most importantly, enjoying the game!

Students learn essential beach volleyball skills and drills such as passing and setting, effective serving techniques, attacking and defensive skills, like blocking and digging. Additionally, participants practice footwork and movement specific to sand play, improving their agility and stamina through drills designed for the unique demands of the sandy beach environment.

Planned Topics

Game strategies discussed include effective communication between partners, reading the opponent’s plays, positioning for optimal court coverage, and employing strategic shot placement to outmaneuver opponents. Participants also explore techniques for adapting to various weather conditions and playing with a competitive mindset to enhance overall performance.

In addition to the Beach Volleyball specific skills, this program also providea classroom sessions consisting of elite mindset training. Students learn the importance of goal setting, mental toughness, and team values.

Head Beach Volleyball Coach

BA in Justice Studies with a focus in Criminology 

Jaida Ward is the head coach of the University of the Pacific’s beach volleyball program, bringing a wealth of competitive experience from her time playing at San Jose State. With a background in Justice Studies focused on Criminology, Coach Ward emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and resilience, guiding players to develop skills both on and off the court.
