Meet Alexandre Peron, LLM in U.S. and Policy
Alexandre Peron is originally from Paris, France, where he has worked as an attorney at law for 13 years. He has held various roles in law firms, served as general counsel and Head of Legal in several FinTechs and banks, and founded his own law firm, Kingston Avocats, in 2021. Additionally, Peron is a Professor of Law specializing in Corporate Law, Torts, and Contracts, and he has published three books in banking and financial law, along with novels.
Peron is currently pursuing an LLM degree in U.S. and Policy at McGeorge School of Law.
His decision to attend law school was deeply personal, driven by his experiences growing up.
“I have always been interested in law, and I developed a real sense of justice because of what I went through when I was a kid, a teenager and a young professional (poverty, school harassment, sexual orientation discrimination, work harassment),” he shared.
Peron’s long-standing passion for the U.S. also played a significant role in his decision.
“I’ve always been passionate about the U.S., I traveled a lot throughout the country and to live here has been one of my biggest dreams since I was a teenager,” he said.
He chose McGeorge School of Law because of the personal connection he felt with the faculty, particularly with Assistant Dean of Graduate, Online, and International Programs Clémence Kucera, whom he met in Paris as a prospective student.
“A natural connection applied immediately, and I really felt considered like a person and not as another ‘banal student.’”
He also appreciated the school's intimate campus environment.
“The campus is not a huge one and matches perfectly with my personality because I need to feel human connections and to be part of a community. Not to be part of a huge impersonal machine,” he said.
Additionally, Peron values the opportunities McGeorge offers to LLM students.
“McGeorge gives the opportunity to the LLM students to attend the same classes as the JD students and to be treated like them,” Peron said.
He also highlighted the supportive atmosphere at McGeorge, sharing that “All the staff are very dedicated to the [international students], very reactive, helpful and they support us anytime. I immediately noticed this point when I was applying, and it made the difference.”
Meet Daniela Maria Carvalho, LLM in U.S. and Policy
Daniela Maria Carvalho is a Brazilian-trained lawyer with a diverse background in Business Law, Real Property Law, Family Law, and Employment Law. She became a licensed attorney in Brazil in 2012 and has since built extensive legal experience. Currently, she works at Conflict Criminal Defenders while pursuing advanced legal education in the U.S.
Carvalho is enrolled in the LLM (Master of Laws) program at McGeorge School of Law, with a focus on "enhancing my expertise in U.S. law to complement my international legal background." She is pursuing an LLM degree in U.S. Law & Policy.
"As an immigrant and a lawyer, I want to bridge the gap between my Brazilian legal training and the U.S. legal system, enhancing my ability to practice law effectively here in the U.S.,” she said.
When asked why she chose to study at McGeorge School of Law, Carvalho shared that the school’s strong reputation for training international lawyers, its "supportive academic environment," and its proximity to both her home and California's legal and business hubs made it an ideal fit.
"McGeorge’s focus on preparing globally-minded legal professionals aligns perfectly with my career aspirations,” Carvalho said.
