McGeorge Alumni Recognized Among the Top 100 Lawyers in California
Three McGeorge alumni were recently honored as 2020’s Top 100 California Lawyers by the Daily Journal, California's leading legal newspaper.
Katharine Martin, JD ‘87, Chair of the Board and Partner at Wilson Sonsini in Palo Alto; Dana Fox, JD '85, a Senior Partner at Lewis Brisbois in Los Angeles; and Michael Ramsey, JD '77, the Butte County District Attorney, are the McGeorge honorees.
Martin was lauded for the second year in a row for her work representing Twitter. She led a team of attorneys that worked out a deal allowing Twitter to receive a $1 billion investment from a private equity firm and establish a $2 billion share repurchasing program.
Fox, who has become a go-to defense attorney in high-exposure cases around the country, is also a returnee to the prestigious Daily Journal Top 100. Fox’s newest clients include Walmart, which faces wrongful-death and injury suits stemming from a 2019 mass shooting that killed 23 people in El Paso, and Tesla, which is being sued in a large personal injury case.
Ramsey obtained a guilty plea from PG&E to an 84-count manslaughter prosecution for its involvement in the 2018 Camp Fire that killed 84 people in the town of Paradise and surrounding areas. In addition, the court agreed to impose a $3.5 million fine on the utility, which also faces multi-billion dollar settlements in related civil suits.
The Daily Journal, which traces its history back to 1988, publishes Los Angeles and San Francisco editions five days a week.
