Global Center for Business & Development Conference to discuss the impact on patent and trademark law of changes in practice and technology

Professor Mike Mireles was one of the co-organizers for the 2025 Patent and Trademark Law Developments Conference.

The Global Center for Business & Development at the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law will host a conference on Patent and Trademark Law Developments on Friday, April 4. The conference will bring together legal scholars and educators to explore recent patent and trademark law developments, including comparative and international issues.

This year’s conference, entitled “Patent and Trademark Law Developments,” is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Classroom A. The event will feature over 20 speakers from the European Union, India, the United States, China, and South Korea, representing universities such as the University of Salzburg Law School, Indian Institute of Management – Calcutta, Copenhagen Business School, Central European University, Georgetown University Law Center, Wake Forest University School of Law, and DePaul University College of Law.

The symposium will examine changes in technology, trade, and its impact on the practice of patent and trademark law. Key topics include the role of artificial intelligence, global changes in practice, such as the influence of the World Health Organization and specialty courts, and regional patent and trademark practices.

"The conference explores critical modifications in patent and trademark law influenced by changes in technology, trade, and global ordering among others," said Professor Mike Mireles.

The conference was co-organized by the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law’s Global Center for Business and Development in Sacramento, California; VIT University Law School in Chennai, India; University of Salzburg Law School in Salzburg, Austria; Texas A&M University Law School in Fort Worth, Texas; and DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois.
