University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music is proud to announce the appointment of Bruce Chrisp as virtual producer in residence for fall 2020.

Chrisp has been a professional trombonist in Northern California for over thirty years, and has performed throughout North America, Europe and Asia. He is currently principal trombone in eight orchestras in Northern California. Despite his busy perfromance schedule, he has been teaching at UC Davis since 2000.

Chrisp has always been interested in audio and video recording and production, continuing to expand his knowledge though classes and in practice. He has worked on multiple video projects for other musicians as well as releasing his own musical videos. Most recently, Chrisp arranged, produced and edited a new version of Woodie Guthrie's This Land Is Your Land for the Oakland Symphony. He also recorded and produced a video with his wife, violinist Gabrielle Wunsch, performing Giovanni Gabrieli’s Sonata Pian’ e Forte on original instruments.

"I am passionate about teaching musicians how to perform and record virtually with others, and I really enjoy making online productions for large groups of musicians hungry to dive into this new and indispensible today way of connecting," said Chrisp.

During his appointment at Pacific this fall, Chrisp will help conservatory students learn how to imagine, record, mix, and publish the kind of performance content that the current pandemic necessitates. Additionally, he will serve as executive producer of the Conservatory’s virtual Prism performance, part of Pacific’s 2020 Homecoming scheduled for this October.
