Chan is Missing (1982) is considered one of the first major works in Asian-American independent cinema. Directed by Wayne Wang (The Joy Luck Club), the film follows two cab drivers in San Francisco's Chinatown who are looking for Chan, a business partner who has mysteriously disappeared.
