This webinar will provide you with the most up-to-date information regarding the fascinating and emerging field of sleep apnea in children. During this case-based presentation, Dr. Yepes will cover the entire spectrum of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in children, including the definition, etiology, risk factors, physiopathology, diagnosis, imaging and treatment options, along with a detailed discussion of the critical role dentists play. The effects of OSA in children will have a separate section in the presentation. These consequences are critical and are the main justification for an early diagnosis of this condition.

Presenter
Juan F. Yepes, DDS, MD, MPH, MS, DrPH, is a professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and the associate dean for graduate education at Indiana University School of Dentistry and is an attending at Riley Children Hospital in Indianapolis. He is also a clinical professor at University at Buffalo. Dr. Yepes is a dentist and a physician from Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia, and attended University of Iowa and University of Pennsylvania where he completed a fellowship and residency in radiology and oral medicine respectively. At University of Kentucky College of Public Health, he earned both a master’s and doctoral degree in public health with an emphasis in epidemiology, along with a master’s degree in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Yepes also completed a residency program in dental public health at University of Texas, Baylor College of Dentistry and is board certified by the American Boards of Pediatric Dentistry, Oral Medicine and Dental Public Health. He is also a fellow in dental surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and serves on the editorial board of several dental journals.
