After the Fall Preview Reception, take a stroll to Janet Leigh Theatre and enjoy a 23-minute, black and white short film called "La Boulangère de Monceau" (The Bakery Girl of Monceau) Written & directed by Éric Rohmer, 1962. A law student (played by producer and future director Barbet Schroeder) with a roving eye and a large appetite stuffs himself full of sugar cookies and pastries daily in order to garner the attentions of the pretty brunette (Claudine Soubrier) who works in a quaint Paris bakery. But is he truly interested or is she just a sweet diversion?”

American Beauty: The Osher Collection of American Art

This transformative art collection assembled by Bernard and Barbro Osher spans the years of 1848 to 1960 and reflects an exceptionally dynamic and complicated period in American culture. Along with works by John Singer Sargent, Georgia O’Keefe, and Winslow Homer, the collection also includes thirteen significant American artists who will be represented in the permanent collection of the Fine Arts Museums for the first time. Medicare Part D

Special emphasis will be placed on empathy, which Dei Rossi considers the key to achieving DEI.

Your body is a continual construction site and food is the building material. We believe it is never too late to begin consuming foods that are designed to build bodies made for health and wellness. This presentation covers steps that can be taken toward a whole food, plant predominant diet and more importantly, why someone would make this lifestyle choice. Participants will learn about Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s “G-BOMBS” and the importance of feeding your microbiome! Nutrition and longevity are no longer simply about what to avoid and what not to eat; it’s about what our bodies need to build physical and cognitive wellness. Lunch provided by O’Connor Woods Retirement Community.

Miracle Mile Revitalization Plan

Instructor: JEAN CALLAHAN, MIRACLE MILE BOARD VICE PRESIDENT AND FIRST LADY OF UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC 

The Miracle Mile is located on an important historical stretch in Stockton on Pacific Avenue and provides Stocktonians and visitors with a fun experience through a variety of specialty shops, restaurants, and services. Recently $23.1 million dollars has been secured from the state budget that will be allocated to the City of Stockton for the Miracle Mile. University of the Pacific First Lady Jean Callahan is co-chair of an ad-hoc committee that will determine how the state funds will be used to revitalize the iconic Miracle Mile Shopping District just south of University of the Pacific Campus.

Braver Angels: Reducing the vitriol in politics

Maxim Schrogin (progressive, blue) and Paul Norris (libertarian, red) will describe how Braver Angels is working to make political discussions less rancorous and more productive. They will demonstrate the skills taught by Braver Angels in a discussion of a current political topic.
