BIOGRAPHY

Destiny has a Master of Social Work degree from University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She has a wide range of experience working with diverse populations. Before coming to the University of the Pacific, Destiny spent over five years working as an Adjunct Counselor and Professor in the Los Rios Community College District. Destiny has worked in a variety of clinical settings before starting her journey working in higher education. Destiny has experience working within the foster care system, the county mental health system as a crisis worker, private practice, and as a healthy relationship instructor for a non-profit organization in Sacramento.

Destiny uses an integrative, strength-based approach and has a nonjudgmental style that is tailor-made to support her clients’ needs in the here and now. She provides Brainspotting Therapy (which is adapted from EMDR). Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing, and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation, and a variety of other challenging symptoms. In addition to brainspotting, she uses techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). She enjoys providing short- and longer-term individual, couple, and group psychotherapy.
