Carly Ranson

Carly A. Ranson '13, '18, PharmD, MS, BCGP earned her associate of science in biology at Porterville College and a bachelor of arts in chemistry from California State University, Fresno. She earned her doctor of pharmacy and her master of science during her 2-year fellowship in pharmaceutical and chemical sciences from University of the Pacific. Dr. Ranson is a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist and a member of the American Public Health Association.
Michael J. Fox's autobiography inspired her to pursue a career in pharmacy. She was fascinated with his explanation of Parkinson's disease and how medications affected his functioning. She became driven to learn about medications and their role in managing diseases and their symptoms. She then decided to volunteer at a local hospital, where she discovered that the pharmacy profession was a good fit.
Dr. Ranson is actively involved in the Medicare Part D mobile outreach clinics and credits much of her success to the experiences she gained in the program. Through her role at Pacific, she hopes to help students find their voice and passion for the pharmacy profession, as well as provide the tools and support they need to achieve their goals.
In addition to her involvement in health care outreach clinics, she is passionate about serving veterans through the Honor Flight Network, a non-profit organization that sends veterans to Washington, D.C. so they can visit the memorial dedicated in honor of their service.
Her interests range from gardening and restoring classic cars to working archaeological digs. Her family also rescues and rehabilitates animals. Their menagerie often includes dogs, cats, fish, chicken, horses, pigeons and sometimes even opossum.

"I believe in students and their ability to adapt to the environment. I have high expectations of myself as well as my students and believe that given the right tools and instructions students can and often will rise to the occasion. While the process may be challenging, I strive to make learning meaningful and to provide experiences that help shape students into the practitioner they wish to become."
