Bernadette Fa

A 2006 graduate of the School of Dentistry, Dr. Alvear Fa worked in private practice in the East Bay before teaching at University of Illinois at Chicago School of Dentistry as a clinical instructor from 2008 to 2010 while also working as an associate in UIC's Faculty Practice. Additionally, she worked with Heartland Community Clinic while in Chicago.

Upon returning to the Dugoni School in 2010, she became director of the local anesthesia curriculum. She has assisted in preclinical and clinical courses with students in the DDS and IDS programs, worked with the Faculty Dental Service Group and currently teaches the preclinical anesthesia course.

Since 2018 Dr. Fa has worked with the Physician Assistant (PA) program cohorts in Sacramento to provide an intraoral anesthesia rotation/experience. She received her Team Stepps certification from the American Hospital Association (AHA) in 2024. 

She is currently a faculty advisor for the Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA), Medicine in Motion, American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD), as well as for first-year dental students. Additionally, she is also co-lead for the University of the Pacific High School Summer Institute dental division. In 2016 she became the chair of the  Dugoni School's Health and Wellness Committee and has helped to organize events for the San Francisco campus community.

Dr. Fa is a member of the American Dental Assocation (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), American Dental Education Assocation (ADEA), San Francisco Dental Society (SFDS), Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Delta Delta Chapter and Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA) — Northern California Section.
