Pacific welcomes new Dean Rae Matsumoto
University of the Pacific will welcome Rae R. Matsumoto as dean of University of the Pacific’s Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy on July 1. Matsumoto has more than 20 years of administrative experience building collaborative, multidisciplinary educational programs. She brings a deep and broad perspective of changes in pharmacy practice to ensure the school’s programs meet the educational and research needs of students and faculty.
“The School has welcomed me with great excitement and optimism,” said Matsumoto. “I am confident together we can build on University of the Pacific’s legacy of excellence to create a vibrant future for ourselves.”
Prior to Pacific, she served as dean of the College of Pharmacy at Touro University California. Matsumoto’s experience includes faculty and administrative roles at West Virginia University, University of Mississippi, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and University of California, Irvine.
Matsumoto earned her bachelor of science in biology and psychology from Creighton University. She earned her master of science and doctor of philosophy in psychology from Brown University. She completed postdoctoral training in psychology and biochemistry at Brown University and in physiology at Northwestern University.
