Pacific celebrates opening of Calaveras residence facility

University of the Pacific celebrated the opening of its newest student housing facility, Calaveras Hall at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 9. Members of the Pacific and Stockton communities were there to share the excitement and tour the 381-bed, 158,000-square-foot residence hall. It is the first residence hall constructed on the Stockton Campus since Monagan and Chan Family halls, also on Brookside Road, were completed in the early 2000s.

Built in the Collegiate Gothic style for which Pacific is known and just north of the Calaveras River as it flows through campus, Calaveras Hall includes two four-story buildings offering apartment-style living, including studio, two-bedroom and four-bedroom units, each with their own kitchen. In addition, gathering spaces and other indoor and outdoor amenities for students such as a large community kitchen, study spaces, an exercise room and a pool and firepit provide for social, recreational and study needs of today's college students.
