Mary is a first generation, Stockton native, Vietnamese American woman born from a hard working immigrant family. She graduated with a BA in Philosophy from Cal Poly Humboldt State University and developed her expertise in climbing trees, rescuing wildlife, and finding the best breakfast spots in town. She returned to her hometown where she went into higher ed at UOP, and later received her MA in Organizational Innovation and Change. On her bucket list is to try competitive eating, attend Comic Con, and waiting for Daft Punk to reunite and do a tour.
Mike is a proud first-gen college graduate who’s also a Pacific Tiger himself. Originally from Southern California, he has called Northern California home for over 10 years. He loves the culinary and cultural diversity surrounding Pacific’s three campuses, as well as their close proximity to a wide variety of amazing attractions and experiences. Mike’s main passion is empowering first-gen students by providing personalized advising, hosting grad school preparation webinars, and being a campus-wide advocate for first-gen student success.
Kyrsti is dedicated to empowering students through education and professional development. She earned both her bachelor's degree and MBA from Chico State. During her time working at Butte College, she discovered her passion for supporting students. This passion led her to join the University of the Pacific, where she now helps students advance their careers and pursue their own passions. In her free time, Kyrsti enjoys playing video games and scouting for bargains.
An accomplished and nationally active performing arts admissions professional, Fred Peterbark most recently served as Dean of Enrollment and Aid at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Prior to that appointment, he served as Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management and Student Services at Roosevelt University’s College of Performing Arts in Chicago; Director of Music Admissions and Assistant Dean for Preparatory Programs at Ithaca College’s School of Music; Assistant Dean for Recruitment and Diversity at Louisiana State University’s College of Music and Dramatic Arts; and Assistant Dean for Recruitment and Outreach at the College of Music at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Peterbark earned a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance with teacher certification (K-12) from the University of Michigan and a Master of Music in performance from the University of Colorado Boulder. He is co-author of “Caring for the Whole Student” in Sound Pedagogy: Radical Care in Post-Secondary Music (University of Illinois Press). He has presented on music admissions and recruitment at multiple NASM and NACAC convenings; lectured at the Aspen Music School; and has served as Monfort Professor in Residence at Colorado State University, where he spoke on Black Pioneers in Music Performance.
As a performer, Peterbark sang in the NAXOS recording of William Bolcom’s “Songs of Innocence and Experience” which won four Grammy Awards in 2005 (Best Classical Album, Best Choral Performance, Best Classical Contemporary Composition and Producer of the Year, Classical).
James "Jim" A. Uchizono, PharmD, PhD earned his bachelor of science in both chemistry and biology from University of California, Irvine in 1985. He later attended University of California, San Francisco where he received his doctor of pharmacy in 1990 and his doctor of philosophy in 2001. Dr. Uchizono also interned and worked at Genetech, Inc. He joined the Pacific pharmacy family in 2000. Dr. Uchizono loves the interactions he has with his students at Pacific. In 2006 he was awarded the Eberhardt Teacher/Scholar Award and in 2005 he received the Teacher of the Year award from the School.
He is a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American Pharmacists Association and the California Pharmacists Association.
