Newsflash BREAKING NEWS:

Last night January 25th, a Pacific student was robbed on the levee around 11pm as he was walking to campus from Grouse Run. The suspects had approached the student, displayed a weapon and took his Ipod and wallet. “We notice that students become a beacon when they are on the levee at night while walking, which may attract the undesirables.” comments Mike Belcher, Director of Public Safety, on the incident.

However, Belcher’s main concern revolves around the fact that Stockton PD and Pacific Officers initially were unable to locate the victims location after 911 had been called. “If the student had our number (209) 946-2537 programmed into their cell, which was not taken, or had he used the Blue Light phone, we would have located him earlier, increasing the likelihood of apprehension of the suspect.” explains Belcher. As a measure against future crimes, Public Safety encourages and recommends that all Pacific students program the Public Safety number in their contacts as “APolice” or “APublicsafety” so that it is easily accessible on the top of their contact list.  --Sara Menges, News Editor
